The 2013 Legislative Session starts on January 14. The Legislature will be working on a budget for the 2013-15 biennium. The Anti-Hunger and Nutrition Coalition will be hosting Hunger Action Day on February 22, 2013. This is an opportunity for anti-hunger advocates to come together in Olympia for a day of training on the status of important state nutrition assistance programs in the state budget. Attendees will meet with legislators to urge them to protect and strengthen these programs that help feed Washington's hungry families.
Recently, Northwest Harvest's Partner Programs Coordinator, Laura Titzer, visited the Capitol for the first time. She got to have a meeting with one of her legislators, Speaker Frank Chopp.
Laura wrote about her visit on our blog. Laura wants you to know that if she could speak to her member to advocate for hungry families, you can too!
Join us for Hunger Action Day on Feb. 22, 2013. Registration is now open, and we ask you to register early to give staff at the Anti-Hunger and Nutrition Coalition plenty of time to schedule meetings with your State Senators and Representatives.
