Your Weekly Action Alert:
Call today to urge Congress to vote NO on Farm Bill
Federal Level:
The House of Representatives today voted to cut $20.5 billion for food assistance to low-income families. Debate continues on the Farm Bill through tomorrow.

Take Action
  1. Call your member of Congress NOW and urge them to vote NO on H.R. 1947 because it cuts SNAP by $20.5 billion--an unconscionable amount.
Note for those of you who are represented by Reps. DelBene, Kilmer, McDermott or Smith: Your calls are especially needed. Please thank them for co-sponsoring the McGovern amendment but that they must vote NO on this Farm Bill because it cuts SNAP by $20.5 billion. It is better for us to have a continuing resolution, ensuring funding for important agriculture programs, and work on a Farm Bill that creates a sustainable food system than to live with the long-term, devastating consequences of deep cuts to SNAP.
  2. Thank you to all of you who have signed our citizens' petition objecting to deep cuts to SNAP in the Farm Bill. Please, if you haven't done so already, email Christina with your name and address (to be used to verify your Congressional district only) today to add your name to our petition and share this alert with others in your network.

Preserving Our Safety Net:
A small boost to revenue and decline in caseloads for services gives our state legislators hope to achieve a final budget agreement soon.
