There are 2 action steps we're asking you to take: Sign on to the WFC Support Letter for State Food Assistance: Washington Food Coalition has issued a sign on letter to show support for the preservation of the State Food Assistance Program. Sign on the FRAC Support Letter for support of SNAP: Every five years, Congress reauthorizes the Farm Bill, a large, complex bill that establishes U.S. food, nutrition and farm policy. Included in the Farm Bill is funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) which provides “food stamp” benefits to 46 million struggling Americans, including 1.1 million recipients in Washington State. As deliberations continue in Congress, we need to begin to demonstrate strong and diverse Washington support for SNAP. We are circulating a sign on letter to Washington organizations that urges our Washington State Congressional Delegation to strengthen and protect SNAP, and to oppose any proposals to cap or reduce funding, restrict eligibility or reduce benefits to SNAP at a time when people need them most.
